WEAVING Stories, Building COMMUNITY
For me weaving is more than a craft, it’s a way to connect, heal, and create with intention. Each workshop I lead is a sacred space, where we gather to weave not just threads but stories, dreams, and meaning. My weaving and art classes offerings are threads in the fabric of my journey, and I would like to share that with you, for your hands, your heart, and your soul. This journal is about the weaving classes I have been honored to give over the past years, and an overview about what is possible to create together.
Nature Art Weaving Class
This offering began with the Emotional Well-being, Art, and Youth Work training course, at Ciderhuset, Balestrand, Norway, where I shared the intuitive art of weaving with youth workers from 22 countries. It was a collaboration under Erasmus+, where creativity became a tool for emotional well-being.
Blending weaving with nature, this class invites you to work with what the earth provides within the seasons, or location. Flowers, greenery, driftwood, and seasonal wonders. It’s a therapeutic practice of grounding and slowing down, where each material connects you to the rhythms of the natural world.
Here, you’ll find the beauty in working with your hands and letting the process guide you. This is a space for quiet reflection, for being in the moment, and for creating something alive with the textures and colors of nature.
Tribal Weaving Workshop
The tribal weaving class was born during a Norway retreat of Anni Daulter, who I learn the art of running retreats from. I curated the VIKING Shieldmaiden gathering program, and this offering blends weaving with ceremony, connecting to something ancient and sacred within us.
Using driftwood as a foundation, each participant creates a totem infused with their intentions. This is not just a weaving workshop, it’s a ritual of connection, a practice of grounding in the earth’s magic and celebrating the strength of women in a circle.
This offering holds space for reflection, creativity, and the joy of creating something meaningful to take home, a piece of art that reminds you of your journey, your intentions, and your connection to the earth.
Weaving with Kids: Playful Joy
Teaching children to weave is one of my greatest joys. In this playful workshop, kids learn the basics of weaving using simple weaving frames. Together, we explore vibrant colors, textures, and patterns, letting their imaginations lead the way.
This offering is both fun and therapeutic, encouraging focus and confidence while nurturing creativity. Each child leaves with their very own woven wall hanging, a piece of art made with their hands and hearts.
I’ve shared this workshop in places like at the ARt Museum in Førde, SFKM, and UKM in Stad municipality.
2025
The Blue Hands Class
Upcoming in 2025, this class will be held during the tourist season at my home, this workshop blends weaving with the art of natural dyeing. Participants learn to create botanical dyes, including the mesmerizing blue color dyeing process, and use these threads to weave pieces alive with oceanic blues. We will use Woad from my garden (evtl Indigo), and create a botanical blue dye over the gauldron.
This is a perfect offering for those wanting to connect to nature and explore the alchemy of creating with natural color. The rhythm of dyeing and weaving invites you to slow down, find stillness, and immerse yourself in the beauty of transformation.
Does It Spark Joy? Rent a loom
This class is a journey of transformation. You will be introduced into the ancient art of weaving, using floor and table looms, participants cut and repurpose secondhand clothes and textiles into vibrant woven creations. It’s about turning what no longer serves you into something meaningful and alive.
Here, you’ll discover the satisfaction of moving from an idea to a finished product, guided every step of the way. This practice is a mastering experience, as you will create an art piece with a function. you Decide what it will become into, a carpet, a bag, a pillow … .
The Therapeutic Power of Weaving
Every thread we weave carries intention. Through these offerings, you’ll find:
Stillness
The repetitive rhythm of weaving quiets the mind and anchors you in the moment.
Expression
Your weaving becomes a personal story, a reflection of your creativity and heart.
Completion
From concept to finished piece, you’ll discover the joy of bringing something meaningful into the world.
Each workshop I offer is an invitation to connect—to yourself, to the earth, and to the timeless practice of weaving. Together, we create not just art, but a space for healing, reflection, and joy. I am honored to share this journey with you.
With love and peace, yours truly, Karina Siegmund, the Ocean Weaver 🌊
