My BAUHAUS Heart

Bauhaus belongs to my story, it is my story, I am from Weimar, in Germany, the birthplace of the design movement. I am as well trained by the bauhaus educational system at the Kunsthochschule Berlin so it pretty much influenced my thinking when creating.

Bauhaus, was a German art school operational from 1919 to 1933 that combined crafts and the fine arts. The school became famous for its approach to design, which attempted to unify the principles of mass production with individual artistic vision and strove to combine aesthetics with everyday function. // Wikipedia

My work follows the bauhaus design movement principles, and expressing myself in that language is as important for me as my work. It is connected. I feel a huge responsibility as a form giver, maker, Gestalter and designer to be mindful about the materials, the energy and the resources used.

I expect an aware and responsible attitude towards those design shaping elements today in all we consume. We are at a critical point in the age of mankind on this planet, climate crisis needs to be aknowledged, respected and implemented.

Being aware is a good first step.
